WIP Wednesday: Hapalong Half Way Point

May 20, 2015 No Comments by Heidi

When I’m making a shawl or even a blanket that has a elaborate edging, I always consider the the start of the edge as the half way point. The body, while usually large, isn’t too taxing on the brain. It has a simple pattern repeat that can be worked while chatting or watching a movie. What the the edge lacks in size it makes up with in attention grabbing intricacy. First the border foundation needs to be done correctly, not only so there are the proper amount of stitches but so the edge lays flat and even. Once you have the foundation border done, you can start the edge with hope in your heart and fingers crossed that you’re math is up to scratch.

With all this in mind, I began the edge on my Achemilla shawl for the Knit British HapAlong. It’s going ok. I love the yarn & I’m determined to finish but my math is a bit off so there has been a lot of frogging and reworking. This is totally fine since I’m in the right frame of mind to tackle a bit of a puzzle. Also I think the July finish date has me relaxed. It’s a long term project that I pick up on the evenings when I’m not too tired and am happy to experiment. I frequently look at the images of the finish piece and each time I’m inspired to keep going. It’s going to look so great and I can’t wait to wear it.
