Quiet Mornings

Autumn gold & green
I feel my week begins on Tuesdays. With the toddler off to creche, I have time to take stock & plan the week at my own pace. This week began much better than the last ended with a quiet breakfast admiring the sun shining through the warm autumn leaves while listening to Around the World in Eighty Days on LibriVox. These mornings fortify my mind and allow time to smooth over any worries or stress.

The Toddler's Busy Book, Trisha Kruffner
While I continue to convalesce and to keep the cabin fever at bay for me and the toddler, I’ve been researching stuff to do with him. Also I’d like to structure our days a bit better now that we’ve settled in and things are calming down. As you can see from the bookmarks, there’s lots of great simple ideas in The Toddler’s Busy Book by Trish Kruffner like the blanket train and rotating toys out to combat boredom.

I wrote up basic schedule not a keep the child busy every minute type thing because I don’t work well like that and don’t think it leaves room for life. More timings, as in when he would normally get hungry or a bit surly from boredom. In terms of food, I think knowing the natural times hunger strikes helps fend off the hangery toddler so I’m hoping the same will work for fending off the boredom.

On the crafty front, I’ve started my 2nd ball of yarn making hearts. It’s nice to have something small and easy on the brain to keep my hands busy. There’s some secret crocheting going on as well for my crafty group’s Secret Santa. It’s such a joy making something for someone I know who will enjoy receiving a handmade gift.
