FO Friday |Crochet Birdcage Veil

May 15, 2015 No Comments by Heidi

This time last year we got married. It was a wonderful day. So many elements of our wedding were handmade; the decorations for the reception hall and church pews, my bouquet and the cake.

One of the things I made for myself were elements for a birdcage veil. I wanted something that was a nod to Ireland, my home for the last 15 years and my OH’s home for 20+ years. I crocheted a collection of Clones Lace elements; 5 petal flower, clematis leaf and a rose. The patterns were all from the articles Moira Tranor wrote for Interweave Crochet in the Summer & Winter 2011 issues.

Once the pieces were finished, I stiffened them with a pvc glue /water mix of 60/40. Then bundled them off to the talented Mark Garvey work his magic. He added beads and some vintage French lace to finish it off. I adore it.
